Woodlands in Leigh, Kent

This Wild Workshop will be held in a beautiful woodland setting in Leigh – close to Hildenborough, Kent. This rural, natural setting provides a sense of how our ancestors would have worked with pewter over an open fire, using rudimental tools and technology. Pewter is a very versatile low melt, tin-based metal alloy. It can be cast at low temperatures and using a wide variety of mould making materials. This means it’s a very exciting and interesting material to work with – the possibilities are only limited by your imagination!!
The workshop is designed to be a time of calm and tranquillity, giving you the knowledge and confidence to experiment and learn whilst also providing a space to really relax and unwind, get away from the everyday hustle and bustle and totally connect with your inner creative! It is suitable for anyone and everyone from complete novices to those who want to expand their experience and try different techniques – the collective creative experience in nature is fantastic and I am always bowled over by the creativity and imagination of folk!
Pewter is a such a great material to work with, enabling you to create both very simple and complex designs… we will be using casting techniques with both Cuttlefish bone and Delft clay and you will be shown how to clean up and finish the pewter to create 2 personalised pieces for you to be proud of…give as gifts, wear or simply display… All tools, equipment and materials provided – up to 50gms lead free pewter included.
Additional can be purchased on the day for a small cost if required. Hot drinks and light refreshments provided but you’re welcome to bring your own. These sessions are limited to a max of 10 participants for safety reasons and so that everyone is able to receive the attention required. Exact location and directions will be emailed to you once your place has been confirmed. Looking forward to it!!
